DescriptionGeneral Statement of DutiesThe Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Nurse Home Visitor is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing services to women and their families eligible for the NFP Program in person or via telehealth.
Nurse Home Visitors (NHV) are pivotal in transforming the lives of vulnerable babies, mothers, and families by implementing and maintaining the fidelity of the NFP model.
Our goal is that all children are healthy, families thrive, communities prosper, and the cycle of poverty is broken.
This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City-County of Butte-Silver Bow and the Montana Nurses Association, Local No.

Duties/ResponsibilitiesDistinguishing Features of the Class Provide in person or telehealth visits to women and their families eligible for the NFP program.
Adhere to nursing process and the NFP model of home visitation.
Carry a case load of up to 25 clients.
Promote public awareness of NFP and develop and maintain community relationships to support client referrals.
Develop therapeutic relationships, use concepts of reflection and motivational interviewing with women and their families.
Ability to complete duties under stress, deadlines, and while attending to multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work independently with support from NFP Nurse Supervisor and NFP team.

Time Management - NHVs must be able to flexibly schedule and reschedule a day's activities based on multiple factors.

Ability to impose structure - In between and during home visits, NHVs must be able to create structure in moments of confusion, disorganization, or crisis.

Working Conditions While Performing Essential Functions General office setting in the Butte-Silver Bow Health Department facility, as well as community sites, including clients' homes and workplaces.
Work performed in the community is sometimes subject to conditions that range from inclement weather to dangerous conditions, such as snow/ice, cold, heat, noise, wetness/humidity, vibration, sudden temperature changes, and poor illumination at the job site or due to travel on the job.
Travel to and from field locations may subject worker to increased risk of driving hazards.
Community locations may subject worker to communicable diseases, insects and other disease vectors, toxins, hazardous materials, chemicals, and animals.
In all settings, employees in this classification may occasionally need to relate to members of the public who exhibit challenging, atypical, or hostile behaviors and/or communication.
Equipment used to perform essential functions Computer, fax, copier, personal or county vehicle, public health and medical equipment and supplies related to duties.
Due to the need for all Health Department personnel to respond to public health emergencies, the employee must be assessed for his/her ability to meet the physical demands of performing the following activities:
Must be able to be fitted and wear NIOSH 95 mask.
Engage in the following movements:
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, feeling and writing and repetitive motions.
Exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Hearing ability sufficient enough to communicate with others effectively in person and over the phone.
Visual ability must be sufficient enough to read typewritten documents and computer screens and drive a vehicle.
If unable to demonstrate these abilities based upon a standardized, objective assessment, all reasonable accommodations will be made, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and any other applicable federal and Montana law.

National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200 and 700 certifications within four (4) months of employment.
Valid Montana driver's license, current certificate of vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation to all assigned work locations.
Required Special Qualifications Must possess a current Montana Driver's license; or have the ability to obtain one within a reasonable period of time after employment.
Must be a resident of Butte-Silver Bow during employment according to Butte-Silver Bow Ordinance.
