Environmental Health & Safety Intern
Job Type InternshipDescriptionThis is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced aerospace and metal foundry manufacturing facility.
Expected work hours will be 40 hours per week for a summer internship and 10 to 20 hours per week for a fall or spring internship.
The position is focused on Safety, IH, and Environmental projects, including assisting with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Assist the EHS Team with special projects as assigned Create, update, and maintain safety related forms and documents Conduct IH sampling under the direction of the EHS Leader Assist the EHS department with managing and improving tracking systems and databases.
Establish and meet EHS performance targets and generate ideas for continuous EHS performance improvement Assist with the improvement and implementation of the existing training programs Other duties as assigned Work Environment:
May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke (Below OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).
Safety training and equipment are provided by MPP in accordance with applicable law, industry standards and company policy.
Occasionally lifts 25 - 40lbs.
Requirements Sophomore level or higher in OSH or IH Self-motivated with the ability to initiate and complete projects in a timely manner Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PPT, etc.
) US Person Status Ability to speak, read, and write English Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check Desired Characteristics:
Experience in a manufacturing facility Experience performing IH monitoring Familiar with Safety Risk Assessments Experience writing procedures Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills Excellent attention to detail Good interpersonal and leadership skills Regular and reliable office attendance Comfortable with public speaking Recommended Skills Aerospace Industries Attention To Detail Communication Databases Leadership Microsoft Office Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
